There was plenty of festive cheer on offer at our Christmas Fair, with lots of chances to win prizes and to do a spot of gift shopping.
We were delighted to welcome Reading Mayor Cllr Rose Williams as guest of honour, who browsed the stalls, enjoyed a cup of tea and chatted with people who use our services, staff and trustees.
The tombola stall boasted dozens of prizes and proved a hit with visitors. Raffle prizes included a meal and wine voucher for two, an Entertainer gift card, pottery painting session, spiralizer, giant teddy, scented candle and a homemade gingerbread church. Many ticket holders were hoping to win the chocolate hamper, which was packed with Mars and Galaxy bars!
Younger visitors were able to play the marble game, which brought out everyone’s competitive spirit and crafts on sale included cards and pom-poms made by members of our Mates & Cakes club. We were also selling ceramics, tree decorations and useful pen holders all made by our members.
Once visitors had finished browsing the stalls there were delicious cakes to enjoy, which had been generously donated by Free Cakes for Kids.
A big thank you to the Abbot Cook pub, Starbucks, Mad Hatters Pottery Café in Tilehurst and the Entertainer for their donations and to everyone who joined us on Sunday afternoon.
Special thanks also go to our Reading Mencap ambassadors and the volunteers who helped make the fair such a success.
All the proceeds from the fair go to Reading Mencap and enable us to continue to support children and adults with learning disabilities.
