People’s Postcode Lottery grant funds activities

Thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery members of our ME Day Activity Services are enjoying an exciting range of activities aimed at keeping them fit and well.

We’re delighted to have received an £9,153 grant to fund Zumba, Tai Chi, yoga and drumming sessions.

The award from Postcode Community Trust – a grant giving charity funded by the lottery players – will enable specialist teachers to deliver the classes, which are all firm favourites to the ME (Mencap Enables) Day Activity Services at Alexandra Road and St Paul’s Church Hall, Whitley Wood Lane.

So far, members have enjoyed singing sessions and had an interactive dance session with the unique dancing school Chance to Dance.

CEO Mandi Smith said everyone at Reading Mencap was extremely grateful to receive the support of People’s Postcode Lottery.

She said: “The award allows us to improve the range of activities offered at our day services and gives our members the chance learn new skills while taking part in fun, leisure activities.”
