Reading Mencap Christmas Closures
Season’s Greetings from everyone at Reading Mencap and best wishes for a Happy New Year.
The ME Day Activity Service will run as usual on Monday 23 December. It will be closed from Christmas Eve and reopen on Thursday 2 January.
The Family Support Service’s last day before Christmas will be Monday 23 December. The service will reopen on Friday 3 January.
The office will close on Monday 23 December and reopen on Thursday 2 January.
If you need help over the festive period:
Adult Social Care
A reduced service will be running over the Christmas period. This will be to support people who require urgent assistance on Tuesday 24 December, Friday 27 December, Monday 30 December and Tuesday 31 December. Normal services will be in place from Thursday 2 January.
The out-of-hours service will be running as usual. Call 01344 786 543.
Medical Assistance
You should use the NHS 111 service if you are ill or hurt and need help fast but it is not a 999 emergency.

Reading Walk-in Centre
Anyone can use Reading Walk-in Centre, 1st Floor, 103-105 Broad Street Mall, Reading RG1 7QA.
Opening times 8am – 8pm. The Walk-in Centre will be open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The Accident and Emergency Department is based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Centre Block, Craven Road, Reading RG1 5AN. Tel: 0118 322 7019.

Free and low cost activities over the Christmas period 2019
The Queens Arms, 24 Great Knolly Street, Reading RG1 7HL
New Beginnings have transformed the Queens Arms pub in Great Knollys Street, which is now used for a number of services, which include the All Night Café, a night shelter for the homeless, a community fridge for distributing free food for those in need and the After School Café offering meals, clothing and support for parents and children.
The Museum of English Rural Life (MERL)

No set events. The museum is always a free, safe and welcoming place to go.
