Sun shone on our summer fair

Our Summer Fair at Harris Garden raised an impressive £1,977!

Our Patron, Sir John Madejski, performed the opening ceremony ably assisted by our Reading Mencap Ambassadors. The sun shone and we welcomed more than 230 people throughout the afternoon who browsed the stalls and enjoyed games and our tombola and raffle.

A very big thank you to all the volunteers, Friends of Harris Garden and stallholders who made it such a lovely afternoon. Special thanks to Free Cakes for Kids who did us proud with a delicious selection of homemade cakes and cookies and to Laurels Plant Centre for their leafy donations.

Gracias, also, to the group of visiting Spanish students who gave up their afternoon to help out.

Lastly, a massive thank you to Huawei UK who kindly donated a Huawei P20 phone for the fair – it made us an amazing £354.

All the proceeds go towards supporting our services for local people with learning disabilities.
