DESCRIPTION:Gateway Club returns for the New Year with a welcome back party. \nGateway Club is a friendly\, lively club for adults with a learning disability. It meets weekly on a Tuesday evening and gives members the chance to try new activities in a friendly\, supportive environment. \nActivities are chosen by the people who attend the club. Indoor activities\, which take place at our centre in Alexandra Road\, Reading include cooking\, art and crafts\, watching movies and indoor sports – playing pool is a favourite. \nThe club also gets out and about and enjoys trips to the pub\, bowling and rounders in the park. When funding allows there are special events\, such as a trip down the Thames\, a summer BBQ and Christmas party. \nGateway Club meets on a Tuesday evening from 7.15pm – 9.15pm. DESCRIPTION:Unpaid family carers are invited to join us for afternoon tea on Whittington’s Tea Barge. We have exclusive use of the barge\, which is moored on the north bank of the River Thames at Hills Meadow. Please note the barge will remain static. \nIf you do not have any respite for the person you care for\, they are very welcome to join us. There are a couple of steps to navigate but otherwise the barge is accessible. \nWe will also be joined by Helen Luckin\, our new Family Health Adviser\, who you can chat to about her new role supporting patients with learning disabilities to access the health services they need. \nHills Meadow is by Reading Bridge. DESCRIPTION:Learning disability carers are invited to celebrate Carers Week by joining us for a cream tea cruise on the River Thames on Wednesday 8 June.We will be cruising on the Caversham Lady from 12 noon – 2pm. If you do not have any respite for the person you care for\, they are very welcome to join us. The Caversham Lady is wide\, easy to access and has great views all around as well as a nice open foredeck.The cream tea includes plain and fruit scones\, clotted cream and jam with tea and coffee. Please advise of any dietary requirements when you book.The boarding point is Caversham Pier on the promenade just behind the Crowne Plaza hotel by Caversham Bridge. Access by road is from Richfield Avenue. Best postcode for sat nav users is RG1 8BD.
