Volunteer at Clubs & Activities

We couldn't run our clubs and activities without the help and support of our dedicated volunteers. We carefully match volunteers' skills and interests to our clubs, ensuring you get as much out of the experience as we do.

Volunteering in our clubs and activities is a great way to share your skills, boost your confidence, meet new people and have fun, while gaining great experience.

We currently have vacancies for:

Coffee Club is a group for independent adults with a learning disability.

Learning about the suffragettes, harvesting vegetables from the allotment and having a say in council consultations are among the varied activities enjoyed by its members.

You can be a part of it! We’re looking for proactive, friendly and reliable volunteers to help Coffee Clubbers get the most out of the activities.

The club also aims to support its members - all of whom have a learning disability - to learn to speak up for themselves and in encouraging independence skills.

Volunteering with Coffee Club would suit people who enjoy working as part of a small team, are patient and sociable.

Coffee Club is a weekly group for adults, which meets at the Museum of English Rural Life, Redlands Road, Reading RG1 5EX on a Monday morning from 10am – 1pm.

Saturday Youth Club is an energetic, lively club for young people aged 10-19 with a learning disability. It runs term-time from 10am - 3.30pm.

Volunteers will be supporting our young people to take part in a variety of fun and exciting activities both at our centre in Alexandra Road, Reading and in the community.

The ME (Mencap Enables) Day Activity Service runs weekdays between 9.30am and 3.30pm

We are looking for proactive, reliable volunteers to support our adults with a learning disability to take part in a variety of meaningful activities. Activities are chosen by members of the service and range from yoga and Pilates, to climbing, art and craft, cookery and gardening.

Disco Volunteer

Boogie the night away whilst supporting adults with a learning disability to enjoy one of our most popular clubs!

The last Thursday of the month is disco night, 7pm - 9.30pm. This opportunity involves helping and supporting the club leader with running the club, assisting with snacks, socialising with our disco-ers and of course, dancing.

If you would like further information about any of the opportunities listed above, please contact our Clubs Manager, Abbi Chambers on clubsmanager@readingmencap.org.uk or call 0118 966 2518.
