4ME Activities
Reading Mencap’s 4ME Activities Service offers exciting opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to enjoy a varied range of daytime pursuits.
Members are actively involved in choosing what they would like to do – from basketball to tag rugby, cooking, drama and crafts – there’s something for everyone. In the summer, we go canoeing and play tennis. We also bring in expert instructors to provide special sessions such as drumming, yoga and dance.
We like to explore the local community and we get out as much as we can in our minibus to local museums, garden and leisure centres, parks and cafes. We’ve also enjoyed days out to places like Legoland and Beale Park.
Thanks to the generosity of our funders including The Hedley Foundation, The St Laurence Relief in Need Trust, Reading Rotary, the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund, Ecclesiastical Movement for Good and Sport England, we are able to offer these activities free of charge.
The service runs Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm at 21 Alexandra Road, Reading RG1 5PE.
Different levels of personal care are given according to an individual’s needs and members are always supported by fully trained, experienced and DBS-checked staff.
For more information and to ask about fees, telephone the office on 0118 966 2518 during office hours (9.30am – 3.30pm) Monday to Friday.
The service can be paid for using a Direct Payment or through a Council Managed Budget.
