VIP treatment for Reading Mencap
A lucky group of clients, carers and staff from Reading Mencap enjoyed VIP treatment at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, courtesy of the John Sykes Foundation.
They were invited to watch the Valentine’s Day Reading v Wycombe Wanderers game from the luxury of the foundation’s private box.
The day was a real family affair. John Sykes and his family were all on hand to provide a warm welcome, even surprising guests with a special Reading Mencap cake.
The surprises didn’t stop there as former Reading and Wales international striker Simon Church popped in to share his match day insights.
The game itself was a five-goal thriller. Reading secured a 3-2 home victory over Wycombe Wanderers thanks to a superb hat-trick from Jack Marriott.
This premium experience was especially enjoyed by Alastair and Daniel, who are both big football fans. Alastair attends every Reading match with his dad but has never been in a private box before.
Everyone would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the foundation for their generosity.
John Sykes set up the foundation in 2014, with the aim of improving the lives of disadvantaged individuals and communities in Reading.
The Foundation provides financial support to a wide range of local charities and community projects within a 5 mile radius of the Reading town centre. In the last few years, they have supported in excess of 70 local causes.
